Engineers make a world of difference by developing new technologies and taking new approaches to solving a host of problems. On these pages you will find just a sampling of the ingenuity of UBC Engineering and its entrepreneurs—thought-leaders, utilizing proactive strategies to meet the needs of a global society.
Whether you have a knack for inventing, an idea for a business venture, or are looking for a network of like-minded people, UBC Engineering is a great place to develop your ideas. Our students, faculty members and researchers make important discoveries and advancements for society, the environment and the economy.
Interdisciplinary collaborations are often key to success. UBC Engineering has close ties with both the University Industry Liaison Office (UILO), which has an international reputation for guiding UBC discoveries to the marketplace through patenting, licensing and company creation, and the Sauder School of Business, which is ranked among the top five percent of global business schools.
For example, the course APSC/COMM486 connects engineering and business students together in the same classroom in order to bring leading-edge business ideas to the marketplace.
