Awards & Scholarships

Centre for Professional Skills Development

Its goal is to create a supportive environment that will enhance your educational experience and promote your intellectual growth and success. The Centre does this by delivering free workshops on academic and professional skills development; by providing support for engineering student clubs and teams; and by creating programs such as the Graduate Teaching Assistants Training Workshops, the Engineering Mentoring Program, and the Dean’s Award for Advanced Professional Development to name just a few.

Computer Laboratories

The CEME Microlab (CEME rooms 2210 and 2212) is for the use of all UBC Engineering students.

As well, undergraduate computing services are available within each engineering department in the Faculty. However, they vary from department to department, so please check your departmental office for specific details.

Professional Activities Fund

The Professional Activities Fund (PAF for short) is available for you to take advantage of professional development activities that would have otherwise been outside your reach financially. We invite you to explore the opportunities that this fund opens for you.

Reading Rooms

In addition to the main UBC Libraries, the Faculty of Applied Science maintains a series of reading rooms for your benefit. All rooms contain a variety of resources including journals, periodicals and other publications related specifically to the engineering profession.

Software: Microsoft Developer Network - Academic Alliance (MSDNAA)

MSDNAA is a program allowing faculty and students of UBC Engineering to obtain copies of selected Microsoft operating systems, servers and development tools for home use.  The purpose of the program is to provide tools for faculty and student to support teaching and learning.

Shell Student Engineering Fund

The Shell Engineering Student Fund was created by Shell Canada Ltd. to support undergraduate Engineering student clubs, activities and projects which are endorsed by the UBC Faculty of Applied Science such as, but not limited to, design projects, attendance at Oil & Gas related conferences, and field trips.

UBC offers a wide range of programs to recognize academic excellence and to provide financial assistance to students who are unable to meet basic educational costs.

Women in Engineering - WIE @ UBC

The Women in Engineering program seeks to network and support women students in engineering at UBC, and to connect these students with women in industry and academe in B.C. Networking can include mentoring, social contact, role modeling, leadership development, or just finding someone to listen.
