Living in Vancouver
All UBC students can take advantage of the beautiful natural setting of the campus and the surrounding city. Vancouver is a multicultural centre with beaches, mountains, majestic rain forests and spectacular gardens.The university is just minutes from the downtown core where visitors from around the world browse the shops of Robson Street or take time out to roller blade the perimeter of Vancouver’s 405 hectare (1000 acre) Stanley Park. Closer to home, you can hike through the old-growth rain forest in Pacific Spirit Park adjacent to UBC.
UBC Cultural & Recreational Facilities
The campus itself is home to state-of-the-art cultural and recreational facilities including the Chan Centre for Performing Arts, the Museum of Anthropology, and the Nitobe Gardens, as well as two weight rooms, a hockey arena, indoor tennis courts and a competitionsize aquatic centre.The largest on-campus fitness facility, the UBC Bird Coop, is known nationally for its fun fitness alternatives, and its impressive mix of top-of-the-line equipment, services and programs, including year-round intramural competitions.

UBC Engineering Events
Bound together by their intense academic program, a collective sense of curiosity and overwhelming “esprit de corps,” you’ll soon discover that engineering students have a talent for creating their own fun!
Throughout the school year, the Engineering Undergraduate Society (EUS) coordinates a variety of activities including Frosh Week, SongfEUSt, Christmas Caroling, Talent and Awards Night, Engineering Week and the Annual Engineers’ Ball.

Engineering Clubs
Many students get involved with engineering clubs (there’s one for each engineering program at UBC); professional associations such as the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC); extracurricular clubs like Women in Engineering (WIE@UBC) or GEERing UP! Engineering for Kids; or the various engineering design teams like the SAE Formula Car Competition, the Concrete Toboggan Race, the Human Powered Submarine Contest, the CIM Mining Games and the Solar-Powered Car Competition.
