Students will normally find answers to questions and help with registration and records inquiries through their Graduate Program Office in their Department of Specialization. For information on M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, contact The Faculty of Graduate Studies or the individual department/program advisors.

UBC offers three engineering graduate programs for students.
Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)The Master of Engineering is a non-thesis course-based (30 credits) professional program designed for engineers wishing to upgrade their training. The program is normally completed in 12 to 16 months of full-time study. The M.Eng. program is administered by the Faculty of Applied Science. M.Eng. students are not eligible for financial assistance although they may apply for Teaching Assistantships.
Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.)The Master of Applied Science is a thesis-based (30 credits) research program designed for engineers wishing to pursue research. The program is normally completed in 24 months of full-time study. The M.A.Sc. program is administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. M.A.Sc. students are normally eligible for financial assistance from their thesis supervisors and may apply for Teaching Assistantships, graduate awards and scholarships.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)The Doctor of Philosophy is a thesis-based research program designed for engineers wishing to pursue advanced original research. The program is normally completed in 48 months of full-time study. The Ph.D. program is administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Ph.D. students are normally eligible for the Ph.D. Tuition Award for their first 4 years, financial assistance from their thesis supervisors and may apply for Teaching Assistantships, graduate awards and scholarships.
