About

the Engineering Management Program

What is it?
The Engineering Management Program is a sub-specialization available to all graduate engineering students within the Faculty of Applied Science at UBC.  It allows students to get a more balanced education in both technical and managerial subjects. Students get their technical education through their graduate engineering program and their management education through the Engineering Management Sub-specialization.

Who is it for?
The sub-specialization is intended for B.A.Sc. graduates moving on to graduate studies, as well as for the practicing engineer who wishes to acquire more advanced knowledge and skills to effectively manage engineering and technical enterprises in existing or new businesses and industries. To be eligible for the sub-specialization, you must be a registered graduate student in the Faculty of Applied Science at UBC.

How does it work?
The Engineering Management Sub-specialization requires 12 credits of courses in management-related subjects, with a minimum of six credits of core courses and a maximum of six credits of elective courses. Course credits that satisfy the requirements of a Graduate Engineering Program (MASc, MEng or PhD) and the requirements of the Engineering Management Program may apply to both programs.
