Mondo Spider draws crowd at UBC

What has eight-legs, splashes in puddles and makes a whole lotta noise?

It’s Mondo Spider!

This robotic arachnid made a cameo appearance at UBC Thursday February 7, 2008 in honour of Old Red/New Red, a day during EWeek in which current students network with alumni.

Jonathan Tippett, BASc’99 (ENPH/MECH) took a few hours away from his busy schedule to help Engineering Physics students promote EWeek.

Mondo Spider, designed by Engineering Physics—Phizzers—alumni Jonathan Tippett, Charlie Brinson, Lee Christie and Alex Mossman, was created for and partially funded by Burning Man 2006 as an art project.

Wherever it goes, Mondo Spider is sure to draw a crowd.
